College Teaching and Learning @ (NAPSA)—Are today’s college students getting the education they need? The Association of American Colleges and Universities says that many are not. In a new report, “Greater Expecta- tions: A New Vision for Learning as a Nation Goes to College,” the Association argues that higher education should provideall students a practical and engaged liberal education relevant for today’s world and regardless of students’ majors. The report recommends major reformsthat include: e Ensuring a coherent curriculum for today’s students, including the growing number who attend multiple institutions and work while learning; Helping students become intentional, continuous learners capable of responding to challenges; Requiring students to apply learning to the real world; * Creating alignments between colleges and high schools to better prepare students for college learning.
